Entering "Old Age" by Julia Webb
Thursday, May 5 :: 8:52:01 pm
Back when I was your age, I was running my best times ever (so much faster than I'd run in college) with a wonderful group of women. Truly, it was one of the best experiences of my life. While you definitely have a "mature" outlook about racing (which will only help you), your best years are right now. Have faith that you will continue to improve and you will probably surprise yourself with how much faster you can run still. For those us of who are, actually, old, there is still much to be gained from training hard and consistently and from pushing your limits and trying to do your best in races. Personal bests may be few and far between, and eventually, just distant memories, but the satisfaction that you can gain from racing to your fullest continues no matter how old you get. Be grateful for these opportunities you now have and your body's resiliency and make the most of this. But I also hope you will continue to explore what you can do over the next few decades - and that you find fun and satisfaction in your running always. Best wishes, Kelly

Racing is Hard- A Coach's Confession by Charlotte Richardson
Friday, September 24 :: 12:06:12 am
Charlotte, I am very proud of you getting out there to race!!! And yes, it is really important for those of us who coach to remember (vividly) what it feels like to be out there racing. Good for you! I'm excited to know you are racing, even a little, again. Our PR days might be way behind us, but there is still honor and pride to finding out guess what we still can accomplish. The numbers might not be the same, but the feeling of doing your best doesn't change. Welcome back! KK
